The Foreign Area Officer Association (FAOA) is proud to host the Czech Republic Deputy Minister of Defence for Defence Policy and Strategy for a FAOA Distinguished Speaker Luncheon event at historic Patton Hall on April 1st, 1130-1315. Introducing Minister Jakub Landovský will be the U.S. SDO/DATT to the Czech Republic, U.S. Air Force Colonel Sean Cantrell.
Minister Landovský has been serving as the Deputy Minister of Defence for Defence Policy and Strategy since 2015. He is responsible for the development of defence and security principles and defence strategy to be applied by the Czech Republic. His previous roles included the Adviser to the Foreign Affairs Committee of the Czech Chamber of Deputies, consultant at the Czech Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and consultant to UNDP. He is an attorney and holds a post-graduate degree from Political Science at Faculty of Social Sciences, Charles University, Prague, and worked as a research fellow at Oregon State University.
OF NOTE: The State Department has made a determination approving a possible Foreign Military Sale to the Czech Republic for UH-1Y utility helicopters. The estimated cost is $575 million. The Defense Security Cooperation Agency delivered the required certification notifying Congress of this possible sale on October 11, 2017.
